Functional Lab Testing

Advanced laboratory testing to uncover the root causes of your health concerns. All tests are practitioner-ordered and include comprehensive interpretation and personalised recommendations.

As a qualified naturopath, I can order functional lab tests that go beyond standard GP blood work. These naturopath-ordered tests help identify underlying imbalances in thyroid function, hormones, gut health, nutrient status, and genetics — giving us a clearer picture to guide your treatment plan. Testing is available across New Zealand and Australia with home collection kits.

Practitioner-Ordered Testing Only

ANTA Registered

Functional laboratory testing is practitioner-ordered diagnostic testing and is not available to the general public. Under New Zealand healthcare regulations and ANTA (Australian Natural Therapists Association) professional standards, all functional tests must be ordered by a registered naturopath following an initial consultation. This ensures appropriate test selection, proper sample collection, and professional interpretation of clinical findings.

When Should You Consider Testing?

Functional testing is particularly valuable when standard blood work comes back “normal” but you still don't feel right. Consider testing if you experience:

Persistent fatigue

Sleeping well but still waking exhausted — may indicate thyroid imbalance, nutrient deficiency, or adrenal dysfunction

Hormonal symptoms

Irregular cycles, PMS, perimenopause, acne, or mood swings that standard hormone tests haven't explained

Digestive concerns

Chronic bloating, reflux, food reactions, or irregular bowel movements that haven't resolved with basic treatment

Unexplained symptoms

Brain fog, skin issues, weight changes, or recurring infections without a clear cause

Available Laboratory Tests

All tests use certified laboratories and include comprehensive practitioner interpretation
